I feel most comfortable summarizing my personality as “Gay Neurodivergent Gemini.” If astrology isn’t really your thing, know that this means a lot of wonderful, joyful chaos and no shortage of random facts and stories!

Born and raised in the Seattle area, I now live in a cute lil house in Burien with my husband and feline fur baby Herman. When I’m not at an event behind the clipboard, I can be found belting 90s Lady Country in the car, reading as many books as I can with magic and gay kissing, and serving some kind of loud gender bending fashion ensemble. 

The Business

Functions and Gatherings is a bespoke wedding planning company focused on making the wedding planning journey stress-free and fun. We focus on the queer experience because acceptance doesn't cut it–our love deserves to be celebrated! In a hyper-normative industry, we want to break the mold and have a blast doing it.

So many wedding traditions are rooted in really shitty, white supremacist, patriarchal places and that’s just not how we need to be doing things anymore. Many of these things are also familiar rituals that make the pageantry of a wedding make sense to us. SO.. we queer them! I want your day to feel celebratory and wedding-like AND it should also be an authentic portrayal of yourselves and your love. 

I’ve spent the last few years on a journey of releasing shame around what I ACTUALLY like and ACTUALLY want and learning to just really enjoy life and all the things that fill my cup. So many of us are told that who we are and what/who we like is wrong. We spend our lives liking what we’re told to or what we think others think we “should” like. I want everyone to like and do what genuinely brings them joy, for themselves, and not for how others will respond.

What does “Love Altared” mean to you?

“Love Altared” means we’re shakin’ shit up! It means coming together as a community to share love and show each other what expressions of love can look like AND HAVE SO MUCH FUN. We’re focusing on weddings here, but it’s really about so much more!
